Presented by: Boston Light Source
Location: Virtual & In Person (Allermuir Showroom, 22 Batterymarch St., 3rd Floor, Boston)Light plays a critical role in the spaces we construct and for the people who inhabit them. As the built environment transforms from the assembly of inanimate materials crafted by a series of independent trade artisans to a world of intelligent, interconnected solid state electronic devices, new methodology is the imperative.
Learning Objectives:
Explore the basics of advanced architectural anidolic daylighting strategies and determine how they can be deployed with LEDs in solid state lighting technologies.
Analyze human visual interpretation of light and color and how that affects perception in the built environment; distinguish different types of light spectrum control, and discuss the color tuning abilities of tunable white fixtures to improve the comfort and well-being of people in the noted environment.
Identify application best practices for minimal energy usage in commercial and institutional settings using specific examples that focus on energy efficiency and sustainable design values.
Recognize the role of a lighting system as the backbone infrastructure in the next generation of buildings that synthesizes all elements of lighting design โ industrial, optical, electrical, thermal and mechanical.

Presented by: Steelcase
Location: Virtual & In Person (Office Concepts 2250 Pawtucket Ave, East Providence)Inclusive Design is the process of using participatory methods to inform design, enabling designers and architects to create new ways for traditionally excluded communities to engage in activities of their choice. Learning Objectives:
Participants will delve into the principles and practices of inclusive design, including understanding the needs of diverse stakeholder groups, incorporating equitable design best practices, and leveraging different lived experiences and perspectives as a source of inspiration, innovation and creativity.
Learners will explore real-world case studies to better understand the impact of inclusive design on building and product design.
Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to apply inclusive design principles to their own work and make design accessible and inclusive for everyone

Learning Objectives:
Understand how flooring and wall systems can reduce exposure to infections.
