Time commitment varies per subcommittee, and month to month. Please reach out to Co-Chairs for information on specific subcommittee commitments if interested!

Committees that currently have openings:

  • Be a part of the committee that is the hub of IIDA New England! We have the opportunity to work with all of IIDA NE's committees to communicate our mission, industry news, and event information across the appropriate mediums. The larger Communications Committee has designated sub-committees with specific focuses, so whether your interest is in writing, analytics, web development, social media, graphic design, or marketing campaigns... we have a spot for you!

    Newsletter Writer (2 openings)
    Plays a crucial role in creating engaging and informative content for our newsletter, The Wire!
    - Working closely with designers, editors, and other team members to coordinate content creation and ensure the newsletter's overall quality and consistency.
    - Conduct research to gather accurate and relevant information.
    - Writing compelling and relevant content that resonates with the target audience. This includes articles, features, interviews, and other types of content that align with the newsletter's theme or purpose.
    - Attend monthly subcommittee meetings where you will contribute to the ideation and creation of future issues of our newsletters.

    Email & Publications Chair (1 opening)
    - Oversee The Wire & Designer Monologues content, distribution and marketing calendars
    - Edit and approve The Wire & Designer Monologues issues before deployment
    - Lead monthly subcommittee meeting
    - Lead content calendar discussions
    - Prepare and participate in Chair Goal Setting meetings
    - Prepare and participate in bi-monthly Communications meetings
    - Collaborate as needed with the Design Leaders Network magazine, Cairns which is distributed on a quarterly basis to a small, focused audience
    - Designer Monologues specific responsibilities:
    - Outreach a few times per year to marking/pr teams at design firms to invite them as writing contributors
    - Communicate deadlines to design teams
    - Estimated time per month is 5-7 hours.

    Website Chair (1 opening)
    - Lead monthly subcommittee meeting
    - Attend quarterly Chair meeting
    - Prepare and participate in Chair Goal Setting meetings
    - Prepare and participate in bi-monthly Communications meetings
    - In conjunction with Chapter staff, oversee the general management of the website to ensure it is operating properly
    - Provide recommendations on best practices to help improve the user experience
    - Collaborating with teams to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the organization’s standards.
    - Estimated time per month is 5-7 hours.

  • Event Coordinator
    Time commitment varies – average 1 hr/week, less during periods between events, more during weeks leading up to events.

    Plan and organize activities for Community Engagement Committee hosted events. This includes, but is not limited to, the following examples:
    - Coordinate instructor/rentals for Wellness fundraiser (kayak rental, yoga instructor, etc.)
    - Solicit artwork donations for Art Uncorked
    - Set up and manage bidding site for Art Uncorked
    - Solicit raffle/prize donations for Art Uncorked, Beneficiary Celebration Cornhole tournament, etc.
    - Coordinate Beneficiary Celebration Corn Hole Tournament logistics
    - Work with other Community Engagement Committee Event Coordinators and other members as appropriate to ensure a successful event
    - Provide monthly updates on progress leading up to events
    - Provide monthly updates on progress of event plans, and coordinate with other committee members above as appropriate throughout the month to continue push planning forward

    The Committee meets monthly – 1st Monday of the month, 5:30-6:30pm via Zoom. Additional coordination calls/in person meetings as required to prepare for events.

  • One of our Chapter’s major events, wildly popular, and always a record sell out. This event is held at the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI. This dynamic event highlights the competitive, yet friendly spirit of our Design community.

    Committee Chair (2 openings)
    - Organize and delegate responsibilities for the event.
    - Committee members are involved in sponsorship, publicity, venue details, and more!

  • Do you know what is top of mind for firm design leaders? Do you like to explore hot topics in design, workplace culture and leadership? Are you curious and a good researcher? Join the Design Leaders Network (DLN) Committee and help curate programming for Design Leaders in the NE design community. DLN puts on 4 events per year with relevant topics of discussion for design leaders.

    Massachusetts Contact List Manager (1 openings)

    - Update and manage MA contacts in DLN database

    - Reach out to MA based contacts about specific events (4 events per year)

    - Provide additional details on MA contacts to target invites

    - Coordinate contacts with other Contact List Managers

    - Ideal candidate will have knowledge of MA design firms/community

    Estimated Time Commitment
    Database list update per quarter- 30min – 1hr
    personal emails per quarterly event- 2-3hrs
    In-person event prepping- 4-6hrs, 2hrs attending day of event if possible (1 in person event per year)
    Quarterly committee mtg - 30min Save-the-date cards, handwritten and USPS mailed - 3 to 4 hours annually

  • Across all IIDA NE platforms, the EDI Committee is committed to advocating for the promotion and celebration of contributions by design professionals, regardless of their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, gender identity, disability and socio-economic status. Our efforts will serve as a foundation for IIDA NE to support current members, expand membership to new individuals, and interact with diverse vendors outside the organization. We advocate for listening and learning to promote the transformation of our industry as a whole.

    Co-Chair of Events
    - Manages the overall calendar for the committee, guides planning and purpose for internal events, leads collaboration efforts for broader IIDA NE events

    Hartford City Center Liaison (1 opening)
    - Main point of contact between the EDI committee and the IIDA NE Board of Directors VP and/or the IIDA NE Committee that they are assigned. They create a seamless communication between parties. The Liaison is responsible for attending one meeting of their assigned VP or committee per quarter or as needed. The Liaison should and touch base with that point person once a month and communicate questions or concerns to the EDI co-chairs as needed.
    - Creates synergy between City Center Committee and EDI Committee

    Events Liaison (1 opening)
    - Main point of contact between the EDI committee and the IIDA NE Board of Directors VP and/or the IIDA NE Committee that they are assigned. They create a seamless communication between parties. The Liaison is responsible for attending one meeting of their assigned VP or committee per quarter or as needed. The Liaison should and touch base with that point person once a month and communicate questions or concerns to the EDI co-chairs as needed.

    Design Leaders Network Liaison (1 opening)
    - Main point of contact between the EDI committee and the IIDA NE Board of Directors VP and/or the IIDA NE Committee that they are assigned. They create a seamless communication between parties. The Liaison is responsible for attending one meeting of their assigned VP or committee per quarter or as needed. The Liaison should and touch base with that point person once a month and communicate questions or concerns to the EDI co-chairs as needed.

    Membership Liaison (1 opening)
    - Main point of contact between the EDI committee and the IIDA NE Board of Directors VP and/or the IIDA NE Committee that they are assigned. They create a seamless communication between parties. The Liaison is responsible for attending one meeting of their assigned VP or committee per quarter or as needed. The Liaison should and touch base with that point person once a month and communicate questions or concerns to the EDI co-chairs as needed.

    Community Engagement Liaison (2 openings)
    - Main point of contact between the EDI committee and the IIDA NE Board of Directors VP and/or the IIDA NE Committee that they are assigned. They create a seamless communication between parties. The Liaison is responsible for attending one meeting of their assigned VP or committee per quarter or as needed.     Advocacy Liaison (1 opening)
    - Main point of contact between the EDI committee and the IIDA NE Board of Directors VP and/or the IIDA NE Committee that they are assigned. They create a seamless communication between parties. The Liaison is responsible for attending one meeting of their assigned VP or committee per quarter or as needed. The Liaison should and touch base with that point person once a month and communicate questions or concerns to the EDI co-chairs as needed.

  • Be part of a close-knit design community actively promoting and supporting the practice of interior design in Connecticut. The Hartford City Center (HCC) Committee organizes and develops a full range of amazing events and programs for CT-based designers and IIDA industry members, giving committee members opportunities to contribute to the city center’s growth and build their professional network in many ways. We are looking for IIDA members that ideally work or live in CT and share a passion for elevating interior design in the Constitution State.

    Communications Liaison (1 opening)
    - Is the direct contact for both the Communications Committee and Staff regarding both the creation as well as the promotion of the event/program.
    - Works with their committee to obtain the necessary graphics for the event/program as well as all event/program details.

  • IIDA New England recognizes the need to support our members with professional development opportunities appropriate to their varying levels of experience. Our Lifelong Leadership Programs (LLP) are squarely focused on our chapter's mission to increase the value to our members by supporting continued advancement and development throughout their careers.

    LLP Admin / Communications Liaison (1 opening)
    -
    Responsible for submitting/overseeing forms submitted to staff for website updates, email campaigns and social media coordination for the LLP programs.
    - Work with ELN and LEAD co-chairs to:
    - Submitting check requests for any program expenses
    - Coordinate in person meetings (location and food) and end of year celebrations (approximately 8 events total- 4 per program)
    - Create graphics for leader applications, leader spotlights, Emerging Experience series and quarterly DLN events and more.

  • The Professional Development Committee plays a critical role in the overall chapter and is the hub for a large portion of member and community offerings. At IIDA NE, we pride ourselves in our professional development offerings and they are our highest attended events with the exception of our Chapter Events! We're also excited to announce several new initiatives and positions. Check them out!

    On the Job Skills Development (2 openings) - NEW!

    Our On the Job Skills Development workshops will allow our community members to use their crafts to create opportunities within their current job where they can shine and be more productive!
