MDS/Miller Dyer Spears is expanding its team to support the many exciting opportunities in workplace strategy and design, as well as K-12 schools, higher education, and science and technology. We are seeking Senior Interior Designers and/or Architects with a passion for creating dynamic, forward-thinking environments and the aptitude to think strategically about industry trends.

Our ideal candidates are experienced individuals who are capable of leading programming, space planning and interior design. They are thought leaders, engaged in the current changing dynamics of how and where people work, learn, socialize, create, and discover. They will approach design excellence with a passion for creating beautiful, healthy environments that enrich user experiences. We are looking for people who know how to inspire their colleagues and will help to mentor emerging talent.

Workplace Strategies

  • Provide high level leadership for client visioning sessions
  • Provide leadership and support to staff creating user surveys
  • Provide leadership and support in the analysis of response data
  • Present findings and make recommendations to clients
  • Maintain status as a recognized expert on current workplace strategy trends
  • Provide thought leadership to clients and the industry
  • Help us apply these trends to the other project sectors such as education and Institutional.


  • Provide high level leadership over the programming process
  • Provide leadership and support to staff in programming activities
  • Lead client facing meetings where appropriate.

Space Planning

  • Manage and oversee a staff and process in the preparation of test fits and other space layout plans
  • Work with the client to build consensus on preferred plan


  • Ensure that a collaborative team is engaged and meeting the design needs of a project.
  • Ensure that design excellence is met on projects.
  • Provide guidance to staff in the selection of appropriate finishes for a project

Furniture Selection

  • Manage and oversee the furniture selection process for projects.
  • Maintain expertise on furniture systems, brands and styles.


  • Manage and oversee the document production process to assure quality.
  • Provide QA/QC support to projects.

Business Development

  • Maintain a network of industry contacts
  • Responsible for the promotion of the firm to potential clients in conjunction with Principals and others.


  • Responsible for the procurement of future work.


  • Oversee the professional development of all interior design talent.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team setting
  • Experienced client leader
  • Ability to effectively convey design ideas
  • Through knowledge of building systems, materials, codes and regulations


  • 20+ years of experience in architecture or interior design
  • Degree in interior design or professional degree in architecture
  • Registered Architect or NCIDQ certified interior designer.
  • LEED accredited professional
