Institutional Research & Planning (IR&P) provides information and services that enhance decision-making and strategic planning to advance Boston College’s mission. IR&P comprises several teams that work together to provide a comprehensive integrated planning experience for the University.Situated within IR&P, Space Planning manages and allocates space resources for current and future strategic use. Under the direction of the Director of Space Planning, the Space and Data Planner provides broad project support to the Space Planning team.

YOU WILL

  • Partner with University clients and stakeholders to program space needs and to scope and document requested projects.
  • Track and report space use.
  • Manage select space planning projects independently.
  • Conduct data gathering and research support including benchmarking against peer institutions.
  • Create visual communication and other materials to support and communicate projects and other planning initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying ways in which operations and reporting can be improved and streamlined.
  • Support space planning staff on projects and planning initiatives as needed.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $57,800 to $72,300; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the field of Space Planning and Management.
  • Experience working in space planning within higher education is a plus.
  • Proficiency in working with and understanding space use/space categorization data.
  • Ability to analyze, decipher, and clearly formulate data and recommendations into a presentation and/or report for use in decision-making.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to communicate technical information in oral, written, and graphic form to individuals with varying backgrounds.
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into simple diagrams.
  • Excellent capabilities with software applications such as Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint to interpret and present information.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing applications, including AutoCAD, Adobe or Bluebeam, Archibus (or comparable Space Management software application); High level of proficiency in Excel and Power Point. Knowledge of Revit, Adobe illustrator or In Design a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including demonstrated ability to approach problems objectively, draw conclusions, and develop recommendations.
  • Creative problem solver interested in a range of planning horizons from long-range planning to immediate implementation of short-term projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills to successfully manage a variety of projects with different timelines.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an environment of constantly changing needs, which requires adaptability, flexibility and resiliency.
