Are you interested in getting more involved in the IIDA New England Chapter?  Making a regional difference within the commercial interior design profession?  Enhancing your leadership skills and sharing your talents?  We ask all Members to consider being a leader within the Chapter and apply for an open position on the 2021 Board of Directors! The following positions are open for Nominations.

Requirements for serving on the Board of Directors

  1. No person shall hold any office unless he/she has been an Active Member in good standing for at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding election or appointment, and satisfies at least one of the following criteria:
    1. Has served on the Chapter Board of Directors for a minimum of one (1) year;
    2. Has chaired a Chapter committee for a minimum of one (1) year; or
    3. Has demonstrated depth of experience at the Chapter level in the interior design profession and in the business community.
  2. No person shall hold any office while he/she is active on the Board of Directors, or employed by, any other professional design organization.
  3. The President and President Elect must be Professional Members. All other Board Officers may be Professional, Associate, or Industry Members. Each Member of the Board shall have only one (1) vote, even where multiple positions are held. The Immediate Past President shall be an ex-officio Member of the Board of Directors without the right to vote.

President Elect

Candidates must be Professional members of IIDA. This position is one-year from July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022, with automatic succession to President the following year, and then automatic succession to Immediate Past President.

In the absence of the President or in the event of his/her inability or refusal to act, the President-Elect shall perform the duties of the President, and when so acting shall have all of the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the President. At the expiration or termination for any reason of the President’s term of office, the President-Elect automatically shall succeed to the office of President, subject to the provisions of Article VIII, Section 4 of these Bylaws.

The President-Elect shall serve as the treasurer of the Chapter and as custodian of all monies, securities and deeds belonging to the Chapter; shall hold, invest and disburse same subject to the direction of the Board of Directors; shall cause to be performed a periodic independent audit of the Chapter’s financial affairs; and in general, shall perform all duties incident to the office of treasurer of the Chapter. The duties of the Treasurer may be assigned, in whole or in part, to another Board Officer. The President-Elect also shall manage the affairs of the Chapter with regard to resource development, oversee the activities of the Nominating Committee and perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the President or the Board of Directors. These duties shall include recommendation ad supervision of appropriate committees to formulate programs and recommend policies relating to those issues. The President-Elect is also a member of the Executive Committee, made up of the President, President-Elect and Immediate Past President. Serving on the Executive Committee requires the flexibility to allow for approximately 4 hours a week of IIDA NE work, during regular business hours. Shall sit on the IIDA NE Board of Directors to represent the city center's perspective and identify ways for the city center to contribute to the overall mission of IIDA NE.

Vice President of Advocacy

This position is a two year term, serving from July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2023. A second, two year term is allowed if the individual is nominated and approved.

The Vice President of Advocacy is responsible for the legislative and regulatory issues and affairs of the Chapter, professional practice issues and policy development. The VP of Advocacy shall advocate for the legal recognition, support and protection of the Interior Design Profession. These duties shall include recommendation and supervision of appropriate committees to formulate programs and recommend policies relating to those issues. Shall sit on the IIDA NE Board of Directors to represent the committee and identify ways to contribute to the overall mission of IIDA NE.

Vice President of Chapter Events

This position is a two year term, serving from July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2023. A second, two year term is allowed if the individual is nominated and approved.

The Vice President of Chapter Events shall be responsible for the organization of all major chapter events including but not limited to Business Leaders Breakfast, Design Awards and Fashion Show. The Vice President of Chapter Events shall report to the Board on the status of the events, ensure the financial success of each event, manage the team of volunteers and ensure that each volunteer has a specific responsibility on the team. Shall sit on the IIDA NE Board of Directors to represent the event committees and identify ways to contribute to the overall mission of IIDA NE.

Vice President of Communication

This position is a two year term, serving from July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2023. A second, two year term is allowed if the individual is nominated and approved.

The Vice President of Communications is responsible for managing and directing the Chapter’s internal and external communication to it’s members and the interior design industry,. The VP of Communications shall oversee and plan the official publications of the Chapter, the Chapter website and social media, and analytics related to communication engagement. Shall sit on the IIDA NE Board of Directors to represent the committee and identify ways to contribute to the overall mission of IIDA NE.

Vice President of Hartford City Center

This position is a two year term, serving from July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2023. A second, two year term is allowed if the individual is nominated and approved.

The Vice President of Hartford City Center is responsible for overseeing the Hartford City Center, establishing goals and strategy to bring programs to CT's members and design community. Shall supervise in the structure and operation of all City Center Committees. Shall represent the Chapter with leadership, organization, operations and programs within the City Center. Shall sit on the IIDA NE Board of Directors to represent the city center's perspective and identify ways for the city center to contribute to the overall mission of IIDA NE.

Vice President of Membership

This position is a two year term, serving from July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2023. A second, two year term is allowed if the individual is nominated and approved.

The Vice President of Membership is responsible for Member recruitment and retention, and Member benefits and services. The Vice President of Membership shall oversee the Membership Committee and works in conjunction with the Executive Committee on the planning, preparation and execution of the the Annual Member Meeting. Shall sit on the IIDA NE Board of Directors to represent the committee and identify ways to contribute to the overall mission of IIDA NE.

Vice President of Philanthropy

This position is a two year term, serving from July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2023. A second, two year term is allowed if the individual is nominated and approved.

The Vice President of Philanthropy is responsible for the leadership of the Philanthropic efforts and charitable giving within the Chapter. The Vice President of Philanthropy shall oversee the Philanthropy Committee and work with the Committee to make recommendations to the Board for activities with Charitable Organizations and donations to Charitable Organizations per year. Shall sit on the IIDA NE Board of Directors to represent the committee and identify ways to contribute to the overall mission of IIDA NE.
